With their beautiful flowers and interesting foliage, the various species of Aloe can create spectacular gardens. Many are also used in alternative medicine and first aid. Both the translucent inner pulp and the resinous yellow aloin relieve skin discomforts and sunburns. The Aloe Vera juice is used to relieve digestive discomfort. ALOE, the human version, is to cure speech "impairment", and the fear to speak up.

Much of the political and media establishments have adopted an attitude of denial or misguided acceptance, often referred to as “political correctness”, towards religious or ideological elements that reject equal human rights and undermine secular democracy.  The critics of these doctrines face accusations of intolerance, chauvinism and racism, and are subject to physical or psychological intimidation. ALOE’s goal is to defend the liberty of opinion and expression to oppose these elements, liberty that is currently threatened by political correctness and intimidation; it shall do this by using legal peaceful means, while at the same time respecting the rights and dignity of all individuals. ALOE’s main objectives are to raise public awareness, generate debate, and lobby for legislation that protects freedom of speech against religious or ideological elements, which are incompatible with western civilization.

The following anti hate propaganda provisions of the Canadian Criminal Code C-46 shall also apply to religions:

Public incitement of hatred
319. (1) Every one who, by communicating statements in any public place, incites hatred against any identifiable group where such incitement is likely to lead to a breach of the peace is guilty of
(a) an indictable offence and is liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding two years; or
(b) an offence punishable on summary conviction.
Wilful promotion of hatred
(2) Every one who, by communicating statements, other than in private conversation, wilfully promotes hatred against any identifiable group is guilty of
(a) an indictable offence and is liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding two years; or
(b) an offence punishable on summary conviction.

  1. Great blog! I like the metaphor between the objectives of the Association for Liberty of Opinion and Expression and the curing properties of the Aloe plant.
